Major Changes at the World Pathology Foundation

THE CONTENT OF THE WORLD PATHOLOGY FOUNDATION WEB SITE HAS BEEN UPDATED ON JANUARY 13, 2025.

Over the last two years there have been major changes in the World Pathology Foundation.  These include:

  • Changes to the Foundation Bylaws that transfer control of the Foundation from an independent Board of Trustees to the World Association of Societies of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine (WASPaLM).  This means that WASPaLM controls of all WPF funds.
  • Disincorporation of the Foundation as a not-for-profit corporation registered in the State of Illinois.  Due to the failure to complete annual registrations with the state, this may affect the Foundation's not-for-profit status and require it to pay taxes on income earned from investments.
  • All operating cash then in the Foundation's investment accounts intended for use in funding Foundation operations and Gordon-Signy Fellowships was transferred in late 2024 to WASPaLM.
  • The investment account of the Foundation, previously actively managed to assure optimum income for the Foundation, has not been managed for two years.  The Board of Trustees is unaware of the investment performance of this account.

The consequences of these changes may impact the historical purposes of the Foundation.
